April Springs Into Action

April is quite the month and your Library is busy celebrating it!

It is National Poetry Month. Stop in on Wednesday, April 17 all day long and pick up a "Poem In Your Pocket." We like to see you smile!

The first week of the month is Money Smart Week. We have several programs planned. On Thursday, April 25, we offer "Stop Senior Frauds & Scams" at 6 p.m. Learn how to avoid scams targeting senior citizens. On Tuesday, April 30 we have programs designed for those getting close to retirement: at 4:30 p.m. you can attend "Getting to Know Medicare" to learn about the options available and at 6 p.m. come to "Strategies for Social Security" to hear how you can optimize your benefits.

April 7 through 13 is National Library Month. Stop in and let us know how you value the services that our library offers you! Add your e-mail address to your patron account to get updates on all that is happening!

Join us for something different as we recognize American Indian Awareness Week (April 8 - 12) with a special Potluck and Drumming event on Sunday, April 14 from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. led by Standing Bear, of Cherokee descent.

We end the month with National Environmental Education Week from April 22-26. Sign up for our Tuesday, April 23 program at 6 p.m. called "The Value of Rain Gardens and Rain Barrels" to learn how these can benefit your home and garden. (And don't forget to check out our library rain gardens, one in front and one in back.)

All these special programs, as well as our ongoing ones such as children's story times, LEGO Club, monthly book club, Tech Tuesday and Stitchin' Time are available to you for free! Try one of them out soon!
