Libraries Lead

It's National Library Week! Our theme this year is "Libraries Lead."

Misty Copeland, the principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre and First African American woman ever to hold that position in the company's 75 years of existence, serves as the Honorary Chair for 2018.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of National Library Week! Each day has a designated "celebration":

Monday, April 9 - the State of America's Libraries Report is released, including the Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2017.

Tuesday, April 10 - National Library Workers Day. This is a day to recognize library staff for their work. Our Friends picked this day as "Friendly Bag Day" and have provided bags to pass out to anyone who checks items out at the circulation desk.

Wednesday, April 11 - National Bookmobile Day, to recognize the contributions of our nation's bookmobiles and their outreach to communities.

Thursday, April 12 - Take Action for Libraries Day, an advocacy effort in response to proposed cuts to federal funds for libraries. #fundlibraries

Stop in this week and take a look around our library. See what we have to offer! See what is new or different! And don't forget to give the staff a friendly smile!
