Sign up for programs for patrons of all ages begins on Friday, June 1st and children/youth may start collecting incentives on Monday, June 11th.
Our theme for this year is "Libraries Rock!" We will focus on "Music" for June and "Rocks" for July. We are using these themes across our library's summer programming and McBroom Community Room displays!
We will be offering our special summer-only events including Family Programs, Story Time Plus, Baby Story Time, Pajama Story Time, Family Movies, Do-It-Yourself activities, Minute 2 Win It, Touch-a-Truck, T(w)een Activities, and Summer Serenade Concerts. Pick up a SLRP Calendar of events at either the main level or youth services desks.
New this year is a program for young children from infants to age 5! This program will focus on important early literacy skills of Read, Sing, Listen, Talk, Play and Write. Simple weekly activities will be suggested on colored handouts coordinated with our programs for older children.
We offer programs choices for children ages 5 - 11 and youth ages 11 and up. Activity & reading requirements, as well as incentives are age-appropriate. Kids earn incentives by reading various types of literature and in different formats, as well as performing coordinating activities. Pick up weekly reading & activity records at the youth services desk in the lower level.
Also new this year is a matching Adult Summer Reading Program based on the "Music" and "Rocks" themes. Choose to participate in either or both; while there aren't weekly incentives, participants who finish each theme may enter in a raffle for a $25 gift certificate (one per theme) to one of our local establishments. Participation forms are available near the main level desk.
All programs require use of Town Hall Library materials to qualify.
Children's programs end on July 31. Adult programs run into the middle of August.
Happy Reading to All!
